It always seemed a dumb move for social media platforms to engage in curating or moderating content. Why take on responsibility that is impossible to discharge given the sheer volume of content, the expense of manual moderation combined with billions of daily posts.
A nice clean line between acceptable social media content and what isn’t acceptable could be simply – what is legal goes. This makes the policing of social media content a judicial issue which also means that society’s existing democratic processes decides the strictures of post-able content.
